30 Days to Taming Your Tongue What You Say and Don't Say Will Improve Your Relationships Deborah Smith Pegues 9780736915601 Books Reviews
- This book is life changing. The chapters are organized by the type of sins that the tongue can be guilty of (i.e. "The Lying Tongue," The Harsh Tongue," "The Manipulative Tongue," etc.) I knew I needed help in a few areas, and thought most of the chapters would not apply to me. I decided to read all the chapters anyway as they are all short and the book is an easy read. The author explained each section in such a way that it truly opened my eyes to things I was not aware I was guilty of. I have read this book twice now and I keep it as a reference to go back and review from time to time as a reminder of how I can be more mindful of the things I say, and it has made a difference in my life and my relationships with others. I highly recommend, and have recommended it to many others!
- Great Book. If you have a bad attitude about something it will help you to see a different side and change how you view what's going on. If you have a good attitude this book will help you to make it better. Nobody's perfect and everyone needs adjustments. I've applied many of these concepts in my own life, note I haven't completed the book, and my mom said she can see a difference. My mom was in total shock too at how my attitude had changed especially since some pretty HORRIBLE things had been going on. Although the situation was bad keeping a good attitude throughout it helped me make it to the other-side of it. I recommend this for any one that has anger issues, pet peeves, stuff that bothers you and you wish it wouldn't, etc. Most cases, not all, but most just require an attitude change and to change your viewpoint.
- When I read the first chapter of this book I put it down and told myself, I can't go on. It hit me in so many ways that I thought that I would make myself miserable by being confronted with my bad attitude as I read the book. I did not pick it up again for two weeks. I guess I knew I had some failings or would not have bought the book in the first place. When you see your own bad attitude in writing it makes a difference. You start to ask yourself why by the time you have finished the first chapter. I am now to chapter 4 and the book has already made a difference in my attitude and my life. I have already learned that my fears about the book were unfounded as it guides you to change rather than dwelling on the past. I have never had a book, speaker or self help program affect me as this book has done.
- Super easy and quick to read but packed with direction, encouragement and challenges in taming the way we talk. A challenge every family should do this coming year. Hard to read because I found my mouth on every page!!! She is encouraging though, gives wise council w/o needing 10 pages to do it.
- So far this book is good but I did have an issue with the whole 'complimenting people being deceitful'. I just don't agree with that. Yes there are people who compliment others because they want something and that is wrong, however, the bible does say we are to lift each other up. Not all complimenting is bad. I compliment my son for doing a good job with his alphabaet. If my friend is dressed nice for her interview I will compliment her. I don't think all complimenting is bad. Maybe the author was a bit vague in this area.
Other than that the book is a good read so far. - I want to thank Deborah personally. I bought this book before and read it. I am not sure what happened to it so I had to buy another. I love the book. It came in brand new condition. It really is so great to meditate on. Such a small book, but each chapter could take a week to reflect on. I love how she is upfront and biblically blunt. She doesn't beat around the bush, but gets right to the point. If you are looking to tame your tongue read this book! It helped me overcome so many issues and get at the heart of my tongue issues. This book helped me improve my relationship with my parents and friends. I am so so thankful for this book. I recommend it to everyone. There has to be at least one chapter that relates to you.
- This book is really helping me daily. I thought it was a book that I could read in one sitting until I noticed that it was a daily read. It is truthful and insightful at the same time. I am encountering not only myself, but members of my family, in my community and those that I interact with or have interacted with over the span of my lifetime. I recommend this book to anyone that is working to better themselves and correcting their negative behavior regarding the ugly and harmful things they say to others.
- If you need an attitude adjustment this book will help you move forward and address the issues you struggle with and change your attitude for the better.
The book is easy to read and I like the prayer at the end of every chapter, the bible verses, and multiple stories she shared.
Our bible study group chose this book and we are using it in a discussion format. I would have preferred if there had been study questions at the end of every chapter but some of the chapters do have action steps to implement.
Overall a great read.
